The Postal Inspection Service mission is to maintain “an elite police force tasked with securing high-value Post Offices, facilities, and postal vehicles.” The agency investigates mail-related crimes like mail theft, mail fraud, or identity theft. As federal law enforcement officers, Postal Inspectors are authorized to make arrests, seize money or other assets, serve subpoenas, and execute federal search warrants.
